Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.

The Reds are thought to be tracking the 23-year-old's progress in the Portuguese top flight this season.

Carvalho boasts 17 appearances for the campaign and has picked up six yellow cards.

And Italian outlet Tutto Mercato claim the Portugal international has caught the eye of Liverpool scouts.

Sporting are wary of interest in their ace, with Manchester United, Roma, Chelsea and PSG all link with him in the past.

Arsenal are also said to be monitoring the player.

Sporting have reportedly offered the star a new contract in an effort to deter suitors, with a £46million (€60m) buy-out clause inserted.

But that price may not put Liverpool off.

It is thought Klopp will be given significant resources to bolster his squad at the end of the season.
