Borussia Dortmund are resisting Liverpool’s attempts to sign central defender Neven Subotic.

Kop boss Jurgen Klopp wants the Serbian international to ease an injury crisis that has seen him lose Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho, Dejan Lovren, Kolo Toure and Joe Gomez to injury.

But Liverpool’s hopes of signing the 27-year-old on a loan deal until the end of the season have been blocked by his German club.

Dortmund have told the Reds that don’t want to lose Subotic - and that it would take a significant bid to alter their stance.

Klopp has been a big influence on Subotic’s career.

He gave the defender his breakthough at Mainz and then signed him in 2008 after taking the job at Dortmund.
