Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi and are also in talks over a deal for Denis Cheryshev, according to reports.

The Reds have had a busy summer but are believed to still be closely looking at Illarramendi.

Meanwhile, Cheryshev could be a fine buy to replace Raheem Sterling, having shone on loan with Villarreal last season, and has an asking price of just £14.2m.

Neither are regulars at the Bernabeu and have been told they can leave, though both would likely want to be first-teamers at Anfield.
