Liverpool are weighing up whether to make a bid for Real Madrid playmaker Asier Illarramendi.

The Spain international is expected to depart the Bernabeu this summer after Real reportedly agreed a deal for Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, Illarramendi's former club Real Sociedad are favourites to land the 25-year-old but Liverpool could trump the La Liga side with a big-money offer.

The Reds are waiting on Illarramendi to make a decision on his future and with his chances at Real expected to be limited this season, Brendan Rodgers is confident he can persuade the midfielder to make a move to the Premier League.
