Spain's success in lifting the World Cup - and the resulting pictures of Fernando Torres and Pepe Reina celebrating in South Africa - sparked the busiest ever day on Liverpoolfc.tv.
Just two weeks after setting a new record for page impressions served in a single day when Roy Hodgson was appointed Liverpool manager, our post World Cup final coverage - which included shots of Fernando and Pepe with the trophy, updates of Torres's injury throughout the day and reaction from beaten finalist Dirk Kuyt - led to another record-breaking day on the club's official website.
By the end of a busy 24 hours, a total of 2,928,113 pages had been viewed on the website - an increase of over 75,000 pages compared to the day Hodgson arrived at Anfield.
The brilliant pictures of Fernando Torres beaming with pride holding the World Cup while draped in a Liverpool scarf was the most viewed news story during the day, with 203,753 clicks being generated as fans logged on to take a look at the iconic images.
With the new season drawing ever closer and supporters keen to discover who Roy Hodgson has lined-up to strengthen his squad, our media watch section continues to be extremely popular, with 201,739 page impressions served on that page alone yesterday, while news of five new members of staff being added to the backroom team at Melwood and Milan Jovanovic being allocated the famous Anfield number ten shirt also resulted in tens of thousands of fans logging on for the latest updates.
Once again, we'd like to thank all fans who visited the website yesterday for continuing to make Liverpoolfc.tv one of the most visited football sites on the internet.
