The pair have scored 10 goals in the nine games they have played together since Sturridge signed from Chelsea at the start of 2013.
The England man told Liverpoolfc.com: "It was from the first couple of training sessions.
"When you play with somebody, you can know what they're going to do. We've never really spoken about it.
"We spoke when I first signed about positional things - that was the first time we played with each other.
"But since then, I just think we both understand each other and the way the other plays.
"It's not just myself and Luis, it's Stevie G behind us."
Suarez is one of the leading contenders for the Player of the Year accolades that will be dished out before the end of the season.
The Uruguayan tops the scoring charts in England with 29 goals in all competitions but is also third in the Barclays Premier League's key passes table and has won a hefty 182 duels.
So which of Suarez's attributes would Sturridge love to have?
"I'd have his fitness," he said. "He must be a man of steel or something. He is iron man, isn't he?
"He gets so many kicks and he doesn't seem to feel it, whereas I get a few niggles here and there and it's very frustrating because it kills the momentum I'm having."
Sturridge was not the only new recruit for Brendan Rodgers in January, with Philippe Coutinho also signing in from Inter Milan.
He too has impressed, tallying two goals and two assists thus far.
"I've been very impressed," said Sturridge. "He sees things very early, he's got great vision. He's a very skilful player and he's got a powerful shot on him also.
"I think it'll take time for us to see what he's really capable of doing because he's come from a different league, but he's already showing that he's got a vast amount of qualities.
"The best is yet to come from him but you'll see that he's a very, very special talent.
"It's always important to have a player like that. You look at Coutinho, you look at Luis, you look at Stewie, you look at Stevie Gerrard and Lucas - those players all have the capabilities to play a killer ball behind a defence.
"You've also got players like Jonjo Shelvey and Jordan Henderson who I've played with and who've set me up on numerous occasions.
"To have these players, and players like Raheem, playing behind you, I couldn't ask for any more.
"I'm sure there'll be a lot of success for us in the future with the players we have now."
