Steven Gerrard stands firmly alongside Billy Liddell and Kenny Dalglish as one of Liverpool's three greatest ever players, according to Ian Callaghan.
Liverpool's record appearance holder believes the Anfield skipper has established himself in an elite band of players with his performances in 584 appearances and his tally of 149 goals.
"I think Billy Liddell compares with anyone as one of the all-time greats for Liverpool," Callaghan told LFC magazine." But I always mention three players who I think are the Liverpool greats.
"Billy Liddell certainly, Kenny Dalglish was a fantastic player and now there is Stevie G, who is a phenomenal player and would walk into any Liverpool team from over the years.
"To me those three players have been the greatest Liverpool have ever had."
