Martin Skrtel insists he will return to Liverpool a proud man after Slovakia's impressive first ever World Cup campaign came to an end.
The Slovaks bowed out in the last 16 on Monday with a 2-1 defeat to Dirk Kuyt's Holland.
They leave South Africa with memories of a famous victory over reigning champions Italy - and Skrtel is holding his head high.
"It is over for us. The World Cup is over. It's a pity since we really had a chance to beat Holland," said the centre-back.
"We are very sad now. But let's hold our heads high because I am really proud what we have achieved.
"We have showed the whole world that they need to look at us and I am really proud of these my teammates.
"I am proud to be Slovak, I am proud to be a member of this team. Let's enjoy this beautiful success."
