Shelvey out of England squad

Jonjo Shelvey has withdrawn from the England squad to face Sweden on Wednesday due to injury.

The midfielder missed Sunday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea with a thigh problem and will remain at Melwood rather than join up with the national team.

Shelvey won his first cap for the Three Lions in last month's World Cup qualifier with San Marino.

God forbid both Gerrard and Shelvey are injured for too long! January can't come soon enough! How's Lucas coming along?
