Opta stats from around the Barclays Premier League illustrate how Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard have consistently competed with the league's best in the passing and attacking stakes this season.

Suarez, with 18, remains a solitary strike behind Manchester United's Robin van Persie at the top of the goalscoring charts.

Gerrard's nine assists for the season place him on a par with league leaders Lukas Podolski and Juan Mata.

In terms of key passes, Suarez has played 78 while his skipper has hit 73. Only Everton's Leighton Baines has provided more important balls.

Gerrard, who retains the record of playing every minute of Liverpool's current league campaign, has scaled the overall passing charts in recent weeks.

His tally of 78 from the Swansea game propels him into third behind Mikel Arteta and Michael Carrick and takes his total to 1,810 passes for the season.

Meanwhile, Pepe Reina's eighth league shut-out - which came against the Swans - edges him into fifth place in the clean-sheet rankings.
