One passionate Kopite is set to embark on a 280-mile four-day bike ride in memory of the 96 in April.

Paul Robinson, 52, from Litherland, plans to cycle from Nottingham Forest's City Ground via Hillsborough to Anfield, and raise funds for the Hillsborough Family Support Group and Jamie Carragher's 23 Foundation.

Robinson will start from the City Ground on April 12 and return to Anfield on April 15 - the day of the 24th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.

He has enjoyed great support so far and all sponsorship raised will be divided equally between the Hillsborough Family Support Group and Carragher's 23 Foundation.

Explaining his reasons for the journey, Robinson said: "I wanted to do something to help the families of the 96.

"I was at Hillsborough and to be honest I didn't think we would ever get justice for what happened there. But with the independent report coming out we're now within touching distance of it.

"I also wanted to raise money for the 23 Foundation as they do so much great work giving kids across the city chances they wouldn't normally get.

"I handed out leaflets before and after the Tottenham game, raising awareness about the ride. So many people congratulated me on what I'm doing and that's really spurred me. I've raised around £1,000 so far but would love to get that up to £5,000.

"I've had great support from Fitness Connection in Bootle, where I've been doing a lot of my training, and all the expenses for the ride are coming out of my own pocket so every penny raised will go to two very worthy causes."
