Wolves manager Dave Jones has promised to show Liverpool no mercy when the two teams clash at Molineux this weekend.
Liverpool are desperate for the points following last Saturday's home defeat to Southampton, but Jones insists he isn't letting the media hysteria surrounding the Reds this week to distract him from his preparations for the game.
He said: "I know Gerard, I like him and I respect him. It wasn't long ago I received a fantastic call from Gerard which meant a lot to me. It was about something private which will stay private, but his call was very much appreciated.
"I am aware what people are saying - that he could be close to the sack, especially if we win. But he's not going to help me on Saturday and I'm certainly not going to help him.
"We need points more than Liverpool and we need to start winning games. If he loses the pressure will mount and mount but we can't be distracted from our aim which is getting the three points.
Wolves haven't won since October and have conceded 13 goals in their last three games, much to Jones' frustration.
"We have to stop making mistakes at the back and we have to start putting our chances away up front," he said. "It's as simple as that."
