Goals from Conor Coady and Michael Ngoo could not prevent Liverpool U18s slipping to a 4-2 defeat at home to West Brom on Saturday.
The young Reds took the lead early in the game after Coady smacked in the rebound to his own missed penalty.
However, they found themselves 2-1 down at half-time before Ngoo nodded home a Michael Roberts free-kick.
A talented West Brom side led by two-goal Liam O'Neil ultimately proved too strong Rodolfo Borrell's men, though, despite a clutch of late chances.
