Michael Ngoo scored a sensational solo effort in the under-18s' 3-0 win at Stoke City on Monday afternoon - but how similar is it to Diego Maradona's famous individual strike in the 1986 World Cup?

The Argentina star netted one of the greatest goals ever seen during his country's quarter-final success over England and Ngoo produced his own moment of breathtaking magic with a memorable opener against the Potters.

I always say comparisons are odious. Who was the best Pele or Maradona or Cruyff or Messi? You just cannot compare. They came in different footballing eras where the football play had evolved. Right now if Ngoo produces some spectacular football, then he will be merited for it, like Messi is with Barca - producing one-man shows.
