John Aldridge says the ideal way for Liverpool to respond after suffering FA Cup elimination on Sunday is to produce a performance against an Arsenal side he considers 'vulnerable'.
The Reds have little time to ponder the 3-2 loss at the hands of Oldham, with heavyweight Barclays Premier League encounters at Arsenal and then Manchester City on the horizon.
Former Liverpool striker Aldridge is remaining positive, insisting that the mood around the club could change 'dramatically' if back-to-back results are secured this week.
"Brendan Rodgers has to pick his players up and ensure there is no hangover from Sunday. We can't afford to feel sorry for ourselves," Aldridge told the Liverpool Echo.
"We won at the Emirates last season and we know this isn't the Arsenal of old. They are vulnerable but we have to defend properly ourselves.
"Victory would transform the mood and help us forget about what we witnessed against Oldham.
"We have to see a response against Arsenal tomorrow. With a trip to Manchester City coming up on Sunday it's a huge week.
"If we can come out of those two games unscathed then the mood will have changed dramatically."
