Steven Gerrard's ability to inspire both on and off the field is what marks him out as a true role model and a leader, according to Jordan Henderson.
Henderson watched the Reds' captain guide England to the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil with a late strike in England's 2-0 win over Poland on Tuesday.
It was 10 years to the day that the Huyton lad first captained Liverpool in a UEFA Cup game against Olimpija Ljubljana.
Gerrard is now just a goal away from 100 in the Barclays Premier League - and Henderson insists his teammate is the perfect role model for all aspiring players.
When asked to explain the skipper's influence at the club, Henderson said: "I don't know where to start, to be honest.
"Everybody looks up to him, whether it's young lads, young girls, people from the Academy, up to the first team, there's a lot of people who look up to him.
"To be training with him and to play with him every day is a real honour and I've learned a lot in the time that I've been here. Hopefully I can learn a lot more.
"He's a leader on the pitch, but I also see him off the pitch being a leader and I think that's what you need to pick up on.
"You always learn from people like that. I tend to take as much from him as I can and take it into my own game."
Henderson will have been watching closely as Roy Hodgson's side booked their place in Brazil on Tuesday.
The Reds' No.14 has skippered England U21s with distinction in recent years; however, the 23-year-old is now unavailable for selection due to his age.
Having started every game of Liverpool's Premier League campaign this season, Henderson is confident he'll be given the chance to showcase his talents at full international level.
He said: "I think everybody wants to play for England and I'm sure that if you do well for your club, you'll get an opportunity to do so.
"If I keep working hard for Liverpool, then you never know, I might get the opportunity to play."
