Jose Enrique has told free-scoring teammate Daniel Sturridge that he has all the raw attributes to be one of the best strikers in world football.
Sturridge has made a blistering start to the 2013-14 season by finding the net five times in four encounters in all competitions.
His goals in the Barclays Premier league have each proved decisive in propelling Liverpool to a 100 per cent start.
Acclaim at national level came his way earlier this week, when the 24-year-old picked up the Barclays Premier League Player of the Month award at Melwood.
"I tell Daniel all of the time that if he wants he can become one of the best strikers in the world," said Enrique at an EA Sports Fifa 14 demo launch.
"He is one of the most complete players I've ever played with. He has everything for a striker.
"He's quick, amazing when it's one against one, very very fast, not bad in the air and is clinical with both feet.
"I think he will be the top scorer in the league this season. But if we are to be successful, it can't be about one or two players.
"Kolo Toure said this week that to be a top team you don't just need top players. You all have to be together.
"Other clubs have spent more money than us, but we are all together and that's why we have started the season so well."
Since arriving at Anfield in January this year, Sturridge has formed a lethal partnership with playmaker Philippe Coutinho.
The Brazilian's keen eye for a pass and sumptuous passing repertoire has allowed Sturridge to run riot up front.
"I don't think one or two players can ever make a team, but - for me - the form of Sturridge and Coutinho has made a massive impact this season," said Enrique.
"With strikers like that you know that if your team can create just one chance you can win the game at any moment.
"That is very important as a defender. You know some games will be really ugly, but with forwards like Philippe and Daniel, they can turn the game with one piece of skill.
"If we can keep a clean-sheet, then we know that almost 100 per cent of the time we will win the game because we feel certain the players we have will score a goal.
"I think we now have one of the best forward lines in the Premier League, for sure."
