Substitute Danny Ings came closest to breaking the deadlock on an evening of few chances, but his 88th-minute header was superbly saved by Iker Casillas.
The Reds' 5-0 victory in the away leg proved comfortably enough to settle the last-16 clash in their favour on aggregate, though.
