Liverpool head to St Mary's Stadium on Sunday looking to record their sixth top-flight double over Southampton in the Premier League era.

Jürgen Klopp's side have lost just once in their last nine away games in all competitions prior to today's match.

And here's how the Reds have fared in the last 10 clashes with Southampton...

10. Sturridge strikes in milestone match

Having joined the Reds from Southampton in the summer, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert both made their Liverpool debuts against their former club in this opening-day fixture.

Daniel Sturridge's 36th goal in his 50th match for Liverpool secured the win after future Red Nathaniel Clyne had equalised Raheem Sterling's opener.

9. Reds revival

Philippe Coutinho's memorable 25-yard curler helped Liverpool maintain the only unbeaten record in the Premier League for 2015 as Brendan Rodgers' Reds continued to inch up the table.

It was also the first time since 1985 that LFC had kept five successive away clean sheets in the league.

8. Klopp's wait continues

Christian Benteke's towering opener at Anfield meant no player had scored more with their head in the Premier League since 2013-14 than the Belgium international.

But with the Reds looking set for a first victory under new manager Jürgen Klopp, a certain Sadio Mane popped up to equalise for Southampton before being sent off in stoppage-time.

7. Divock's historic hat-trick

Sturridge marked his return to Liverpool's starting line-up by scoring twice in four minutes after Mane had given the hosts an early lead at St Mary's.

But the No.15 was then upstaged by Divock Origi, who went on to score a hat-trick.

The Belgian's treble remains the only one ever scored by a Liverpool player at Southampton.

6. Simon saves from Sadio but the Reds are beaten

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet palmed away a Mane penalty to deny his future Anfield teammate a hat-trick in this one - but Southampton still won 3-2 after being 2-0 down early to goals from Coutinho and Sturridge.

5. Stubborn Saints earn a point

Klopp's Liverpool fired off 15 shots in this match in November 2016, but were left frustrated as they failed to find the back of the net at St Mary's.

Southampton produced a dogged defensive display but failed to register a single shot on target in a Premier League game for the first time since December 2004.

It was the first ever goalless draw between the two clubs at Southampton in 42 league meetings.

4. Karius keeps Reds in the hunt

Loris Karius made two fine saves to deny Southampton goalscorer Nathan Redmond to keep this League Cup semi-final first leg a close affair.

"It could and should have been 3-0," Klopp admitted afterwards.

3. Liverpool lose their way

Fraser Forster clawed an Emre Can shot off the line and Origi had a late penalty appeal turned down as Liverpool failed to convert 73 per cent possession into goals.

It was Klopp's first semi-final defeat of his managerial career, the boss having progressed from his previous six.

2. Reds pay the penalty

James Milner missed his first Premier League spot-kick since November 2009 as the Reds were held to a goalless draw by Claude Puel's side in May 2017.

Goalkeeper Forster denied Milner and saved a late header from Marko Grujic as Southampton failed to muster a single shot on target.

1. Super Salah strikes twice

Mohamed Salah scored a fine first-half brace and Coutinho added a third after the break as Liverpool coasted to a win.

The Reds had 21 shots in all, while the Saints once again failed to record a shot on target.
