Jürgen Klopp discussed Liverpool’s potential plans for the remainder of the January transfer window during his pre-Swansea City press conference on Friday afternoon.

The Reds have bolstered their defensive ranks with the addition of Virgil van Dijk from Southampton at the start of the month, while Philippe Coutinho has departed for Barcelona.

Klopp insists the club are ready to add further to their squad if the right option comes along, but is happy with the players he has at his disposal at the present time.

Asked during the media briefing whether he’s still actively looking to bring in players during this window, the manager replied: “The answer to something like that [is] if something jumped in my face then maybe we will think about it, but if not we don’t actively [look to] find a new player that we don’t know so far and think that’s a solution or whatever.

“First of all, we have to use the players we have and I think that makes absolute sense because we have really high-quality players, especially Adam Lallana.

“He is not the replacement for Phil Coutinho, he is a completely different player but he is a fantastic player who couldn’t play in the first part of the season. He is back and that’s good and so I could not really say we are active, no.”

On any potential further departures, Klopp added: “We have a long and very decisive part of the season still to play.

“I’ve said a few times, in this transfer window it looks always like the season is already over and then everyone who didn’t play often enough wants to leave then and stuff like that. But we still have games to play and we need all of the players.

“We will see how it will be on January 31, but nothing else to say about it.”
