Daniel Agger first caught the eye with Brondby in his homeland but it wasn't long before Europe's top clubs began to circle the centre-back.

It was Liverpool who won the race for the Denmark international's much-sought-after signature in January 2006.

"Daniel will be one of the best centre-backs in England in the future, I am sure of that," said Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez after unveiling the 21-year-old defender.

Composed on the ball and with a ferocious left-footed shot, Agger proved to be a hugely popular figure at Anfield and helped the club to League Cup glory in 2012.

He rejoined Brondby in 2014 after making 232 appearances for the Reds but the Dane continues to display his lasting affection for Liverpool through his array of tattoos.
