Klopp: "It was not a game for 20 chances, but I think we had seven or eight and we all know the boys usually score in moments like this."

Klopp: "We were ready to work hard for one moment, but it didn't happen. If you don't score in football, you always have to accept the result."

Klopp: "First half it was a little bit stiff and the timing of the movements were not what they should have been, passing was not good enough, a little bit too late. But even in the half, we had two big chances and two other chances.

"Second half was better and we changed the system a few times to bring them more trouble."

The tale of the first half in numbers...

Firmino bursts beyond two defenders on the left and into the area. He shoots but it's blocked... it breaks for Salah, but again a West Brom man gets in the way.

Alexander-Arnold's searching cross from the right almost picks out Salah unmarked in the centre for a tap in; however, it's just a yard too far in front of him.

Coutinho shifts the ball onto his right 20 yards out and shoots. Foster collects.

Off the bar

Robson-Kanu scoops one towards goal from 25 yards while falling backwards... it bounces off the top of Karius' crossbar and goes behind.

Coutinho's ping forward from deep almost picks out Salah's run in-behind, but it bounces through to Foster before our top scorer can reach it.

Alexander-Arnold pounces on the ball, strides forward and shoots low... blocked by a defender.

Yacob meets Nyom's centre with a firm header, but he plants it over the bar and into the Kop.

Robertson meets Hegazi's half-clearance from Alexander-Arnold's cross with a crisp half-volley, but it cannons against Livermore and the danger subsides for West Brom.

Liverpool finally carve open West Brom - and it almost results in a goal.

Mane's beautiful flick finds Salah on the right. He sends in a searching ball towards the back post on the diagonal, which Firmino meets back side-foots across goal and wide.

Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino return to Liverpool’s starting line-up tonight as two of six changes made by Jürgen Klopp.

Loris Karius, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Gini Wijnaldum and Emre Can also come into the Reds’ team, with Simon Mignolet, Joe Gomez, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Dominic Solanke joining Danny Ings on the bench.

As he did against Spartak Moscow last week, Coutinho captains Liverpool.

We've been speaking to Mohamed Salah ahead of tonight's game, and the Egyptian wants to use the meeting with the Baggies to produce an immediate response to derby disappointment.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: "All of us were disappointed after that game but that was the result and we have to carry on. The next game is an important game for us at home, we have to get the three points and look forward."
