Dejan Lovren has paid tribute to Liverpool's 'amazing' forward line after Arsenal were swept aside by a ruthless attacking performance on Sunday.

Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah all got on the scoresheet as the Reds earned a 4-0 Anfield victory over the Gunners at the weekend.

The trio have enjoyed an impressive start to the new season, scoring nine goals between them - three apiece - in all competitions thus far.

And Lovren believes Jürgen Klopp's side now boast an attacking unit that is a match for any other in the Premier League.

“I'm a Liverpool player and of course, for me, they are the best,” Lovren told the Liverpool Echo.

“All three of them are top players. They have pace and great quality. They are amazing. They caused Arsenal a lot of problems.

“I'm lucky that I don't have to face them very often in training. It tends to be the guys who aren't in the first XI. It would be quite difficult for any defender when you are up against Salah, Mane and Firmino.

“It's a long season and we will see towards the end of the season who is in the first place. But you can see the difference those three players make.”

Focusing on the win over Arsenal specifically, Lovren praised a showing that he felt evidenced the Reds' strength from front to back - and on the bench.

“I would say that performance was a pleasure for everyone, especially for us lads,” he added.

“[Arsenal] have a lot of quality. But we showed that in every position we are stronger than them and it was a deserved win.

“As we always say, the first defender is the striker here and everyone did their job so well. Going forward, we really showed our quality. We scored four goals and could have had more.

“It's not just the starting XI, look at the bench. Daniel Sturridge came on and scored within a couple of minutes. That says a lot about the strength we have.”

The Croatia centre-back also explained how securing Champions League qualification earlier in the week had provided a much-needed boost for him and his teammates.

And he hopes to see Klopp's side continue their strong start to the campaign when domestic football resumes after the international break.

“After the game against Hoffenheim, I think everyone was a bit more relaxed. We knew we were in the Champions League and that was a big target for us,” Lovren said.

“We just continued with our work. It says a lot about our character that even though our legs were a bit tired, we performed like that.

“We need everyone to stay healthy during the international break and come back together and perform like that again against Manchester City.

“We want to always be better than last season. It's difficult to predict now what will happen. In football you need to have some luck too.

“But we've started the season in good shape and good form. Now we must continue like this.”
