Liverpool produced one of their finest performances of the Premier League era to defeat Arsenal 5-1 at Anfield on this day three years ago.

February 8, 2014 was the date the Reds registered the first in a run of 11 consecutive wins that took them so close to that season's Premier League title - and they did so in some style.

A quite astonishing start to the game saw Liverpool go 4-0 up in the opening 20 minutes, courtesy of a Martin Skrtel brace, Raheem Sterling's close-range finish and a coolly-taken Daniel Sturridge strike.

It could have been even worse for Arsenal, too, as Luis Suarez had crashed a sensational long-range half-volley off the post prior to setting up Sterling for his first of the afternoon.

Sterling made it five soon after half-time before Mikel Arteta pulled one back for the Gunners - who started the day top of the table but ended it only five points clear of Brendan Rodgers' upwardly-mobile Reds.
