LFCTV will tell the powerful and poignant story of Dejan Lovren's childhood in a brand new documentary next week.

‘Lovren: My Life as a Refugee’ is a moving account of the Liverpool defender’s turbulent early years and will air for the first time at 10pm GMT on Wednesday February 8.

The documentary will also be free to watch on LFCTV GO worldwide.

Lovren’s story begins in the quiet Bosnian town of Kraljeva Sutjeska, where he spent the first three years of his life amid peaceful surrounds with his parents.

However, in 1992 the Bosnian War broke out, forcing the family to flee. They drove for 550 miles through the night before arriving in Munich.

It was there that Lovren attended kindergarten and primary school, played football with his father and fell in love with FC Bayern.

Life was good for the youngster – but, more turmoil lay in wait. After seven years in Germany, the Lovren family were told to leave and start a new life in Croatia.

Now, almost two decades later, the Liverpool man provides a frank and emotional recollection of his personal experience and how it shaped his character growing up.

Existing LFCTV subscribers in the UK and Ireland can watch the documentary at 10pm on Wednesday February 8, on Sky channel 429 or Virgin Media channel 544.

The documentary will also be free to watch on demand on LFCTV GO for fans around the world from Wednesday February 8: liverpoolfc.com/video.
