There will be no drop in belief for Liverpool as Jürgen Klopp plots a response to the disappointment of defeat against Swansea City.

The Reds were overturned on home soil for the first time in a year on Saturday, with Roberto Firmino's brace not enough to prevent the Welsh club from claiming a 3-2 victory.

A chance to make amends arrives almost immediately in the form of the EFL Cup semi-final, second leg on Wednesday night - when Southampton visit Anfield with a place at Wembley at stake.

Klopp's hopes of reaching that competition's showpiece for the second season running are maintained by the belief he observes within his group of players.

"Mentally, here that of course is important," the manager said after Saturday's game.

"I have no problem with this. That is of course a hard way; when you win 10 games in a row, you are flying and it is easy to believe.

"When you are in the difficult moments, that's when you have to stay on track and still believe, and that is what we see.

"We as a team, 100 per cent no doubt we still have belief."

Klopp added: "We will show we respect this tournament and try to go to the final of course."
