90

Four minutes of added time to be played...

84

Goal

Goal for Manchester United - Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

United draw level as Ibrahimovic bundles the ball over the line with his head after a scramble inside the box.

81

The ball drops for Rooney in the box...he meets it with a low half-volley...Mignolet sticks out a boot to make another brilliant save...the flag was up anyway.

80

Into the final 10 minutes at Old Trafford. The game remains finely poised...

76

Substitution

United's last change sees Fellaini come on for Darmian.

75

Firmino takes the ball from Pogba inside the Liverpool half and powers forward before playing it wide to Can. His cross finds Wijnaldum at the back post, but he heads over the bar.

74

A new chant for Gini Wijnaldum is getting an enthusiastic airing in the away section here.

66

The ball deflects off Jones and rolls for Lallana, but he can't get any power on his shot on the turn and De Gea claims.

65

Substitution

Second United change and Mata is on for Martial.

65

Rooney shifts the ball on the edge of the box and shoots; however, it's never troubling Mignolet.

63

Liverpool break again and Coutinho finds himself within range. This time, his shot strikes Jones and deflects away from goal.

61

Coutinho is instantly into the action and his reverse pass sends Firmino into space in the box. He attempts to curl beyond De Gea, but the goalkeeper makes a good save

Alexander-Arnold has the ball taken from him by Martial. United counter and Mkhitaryan speeds into the area before drilling dangerously across the face of the Liverpool goal.

49

Liverpool counter and Origi curls one towards the top corner from the left of the box. It takes a slight deflection and goes behind, but that was close to a second.

Here's the story of the first half in stats...

Half Time

We've reached the interval at Old Trafford and Liverpool hold a one-goal lead thanks to James Milners' 27th-minute penalty after Paul Pogba had handelled inside the area.

43

Lovren's hook back into the danger zone from Milner's free-kick hits a United man and loops into the air and bounces off the top of the crossbar.

41

Another superb Mignolet save keeps Liverpool's lead intact. This time Mkhitaryan springs beyond the visiting defence and into the area, but the Reds' 'keeper stands tall and thwarts him at close range when an equaliser seemed certain.

35

Match shot

33

Wow. Stunning save from Mignolet to keep out Ibrahimovic's powerful low blast from a free-kick inside the 'D'. Superb stuff.

31

The Reds were awarded the spot-kick after Pogba had handelled at a corner.

Get in!

26

PENALTY TO LIVERPOOL!

26

Jones is caught on the edge of his own box by Firmino and Lallana, but somehow United scramble the ball behind for a Liverpool corner. A big let-off for the hosts.

24

Alexander-Arnold brilliantly controls Can's ball into his path on the right of the area and strikes towards goal, but it's blocked by a United defender. Unlucky.

23

A half-chance for Liverpool as Milner's free-kick from the right causes panic inside the box, but Origi can't connect properly with a half-volley and De Gea takes.

16

An even better chance for the hosts as Pogba breaks into space just inside the box, but he thankfully slides his attempt wide of the far post.

16

A scare for Liverpool as Mignolet cannons Lovren's back pass against Ibrahimovic. The ball loops high into the air and lands on the roof of the net.

15

Can pinches possession from Pogba in midfield and strides forward before finding Firmino down the right. His cross is blocked before he works it back to Alexander-Arnold, who swings his centre too high over the bar.

14

Martial crosses from the left for Ibrahimovic at the back post, but he can't bring the ball under control and it goes behind for a goal kick.

13

Martial goes to ground in the Liverpool box under the attentions of Lovren, but the referee isn't interested in his penalty appeals.

So, what does a clash with Manchester United mean to a Leeds-born footballer who played for his hometown club and Manchester City before moving to Anfield?

"I was brought up in Leeds as a Leeds fan and you're brought up not to like the red half of Manchester, that's the way it is," James Milner told Liverpoolfc.com.

"I'm sure they feel the same about me!

"It's just part of being a Leeds fan and then playing for the clubs I have as well, it's similar.

"It's important then that you don't think like a fan when you're on the field, obviously.

"[You show] that passion and you're desperate to win but that's when you can get caught up in the emotion and get sent off or lose your head.

"You fall into a player's mentality but you still have that passion to want to go and win the game."

The boss' thoughts

Here are a few interesting snippets from Jürgen Klopp's pre-United press conference, which took place at Melwood on Friday...

On the fitness of Jordan Henderson, Joel Matip and Philippe Coutinho...

They all were in training yesterday, so [we have] to wait on how they reacted to the training yesterday then we have to make decisions.

The last game was only two days ago and so we have to wait for the reaction of those players, too, and then we make a line-up.

But of course they are much closer than they were before any other game in the last few weeks, so that's good.

On the trip to Old Trafford...

We can lose against each team [in the league], but we can win against each team and that’s the important thing. When you are maybe in this moment, after the last games and you can feel good before a game and think ‘Yes, it should be possible’, but then there is this moment before the game when you realise it is this opponent and they are really different to a lot of other teams.

That’s what I think will happen on the one side and on the other side, we will realise earlier before the game that we are Liverpool, so let’s show this. We can be different to each other team in the league and that’s what we have to show.

On the importance of the fixture...

It's important, we cannot ignore this, but the season doesn't end after it, that's another truth. If you want, United, Everton, these games are always important either way - you can be 10th and they can be first, or they are 15th and we are first and makes no difference for the game. It's very important and we know about this, but of course if we could win there it would be nice, actually, but then the next challenge is then already clear.
