The manager hosted his final press conference before Christmas at Melwood on Friday, and had plenty of topics to discuss.

Reporters were provided with a fitness update on both Joel Matip and Philippe Coutinho, while the possibility of making moves in the market in January was mentioned.

Klopp also spoke about the imminent departure of Sadio Mane to the Africa Cup of Nations, insisting Liverpool can cope without their in-form wide-man.

With the visit of Stoke imminent, the Liverpool first-team squad were put through their paces in a full training session this morning.

The players and manager were also visited by South Africa's world-record-holding 400m runner and lifelong Liverpool fan Wayde van Niekerk, who was at Goodison Park to see the 1-0 win over Everton on Monday.

After that, it was over to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in West Derby for Klopp and the squad for the club's annual Christmas visit.
