The manager used his pre-Southampton press conference to offer an update on the fitness of Adam Lallana, Joe Gomez and Brazil international duo Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho. Read the latest here.

Meanwhile, Karius says the Reds' lofty position in the Premier League is motivation enough to claim three points down on the south coast on Saturday, but he is expecting a tough test from the Saints.

Melwood hosted a totally different type of training on Thursday, as the New Zealand rugby league team prepared for their Four Nations decider against Australia at Anfield this weekend.

The Kiwis were given a warm welcome by Klopp and co and showed their gratitude by performing the haka in the canteen. Check out our gallery of their visit here
