Liverpool midfielder Allan Rodrigues de Souza showed more signs of his exciting talent as he starred for Brazil U20s in two meetings with England last week.

The 19-year-old, who will spend the whole of this season with Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin, was a composed figure in the centre of the park as the South Americans claimed a win and a draw.

Allan was almost on the scoresheet within five minutes of the first match at St George’s Park but saw his rising drive from distance bounce away off the crossbar.

He had lined up in a central midfield role – alongside Caio Henrique of Atletico Madrid and AS Roma’s Gerson – and was a key factor in Brazil controlling the flow of the game.

Sitting in a deeper position, Allan helped to dictate the tempo with his calmness in possession before being substituted in the second half, with the visitors 1-0 up, as changes were made with the second fixture in mind.

England secured a draw after Ainsley Maitland-Niles struck a late equaliser, though Brazil were victorious in the subsequent penalty shootout.

Allan started the second game, held in Kidderminster, too and he was again influential as his team this time achieved a 2-1 win over their hosts.

From a deep-lying position once more, the Reds youngster kept the ball under pressure and was the catalyst for a number of attacks with his accurate forward passes.

Allan was among the players substituted as Brazil, at that stage 2-0 ahead, made changes midway through the second half and Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goal proved only a consolation for England.
