Daniel Sturridge highlighted Liverpool's tireless pressing as the key factor in their Europa League semi-final victory over Villarreal on Thursday night.

The Reds were the dominant force of the second leg of the last-four clash, overturning a one-goal aggregate deficit as they ran out 3-0 victors on the evening.

Jürgen Klopp's team continually worked good positions by winning the ball from their Spanish visitors high up the pitch, and Sturridge revealed why he and his teammates relish the approach that has secured a trip to the club's 12th European final.

"It was about soaking up the atmosphere and putting on a performance," the No.15 told BT Sport at full-time.

"We had to work our socks off tonight but in the end we got the result needed, and we deserved it.

"[Pressing] is what we do when we play here, that's what the manager emphasises and that's what the boys like to do.

"We like to press and we like to be in the opposition's faces, that's our style and that's what we'll continue to do."

Adam Lallana, meanwhile, paid tribute to his colleagues' commitment to a European campaign that will conclude in its 15th fixture in Basel on May 18.

"We said at the beginning of the competition, it's a long slog and you've got to show the competition respect," he said.

"I feel we've done that throughout the length of the season and we're reaping our rewards.

"[It was] a brilliant performance tonight and the lads are looking forward to the final now."

The No.20 also showed little fear when informed that the Reds' opponents in Switzerland will be a Sevilla side looking to claim the trophy for a third consecutive year.

"We fancy anyone, we just worry about ourselves," he continued.

"If we play well, we press like that, we play for each other, then we can beat any team."
