Liverpool v Everton: Live matchday blog

Liverpool secured an emphatic victory over Everton in the 226th Merseyside derby as goals from Divock Origi, Mamadou Sakho, Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho sealed a 4-0 victory over the Blues, who had Ramire Funes Mori sent off early in the second half.

Goodnight from Anfield

So it's time to bid you goodnight from Anfield - and what a good night it was.

Thanks for following us, as always, and join us again on Saturday as we welcome Rafael Benitez's Newcastle United to Anfield for the Barclays Premier League clash.

Sleep well.

Not a bad night's work...

And here's how the Barclays Premier League table looks for Liverpool after tonight's result...

Here are all your match stats from a brilliant night at Anfield for the Reds...

Full Time

Liverpool 4-0 Everton

Four different scorers for the Reds as they thrash their rivals from across Stanley Park at Anfield in Jürgen Klopp's first derby.

What. A. Night.

90

Seven minutes added time indicated as Ibe cracks a shot at Robles and the Kop chants "We want five".

We do!

86

Two shots from Alberto Moreno fly over the bar in quick succession - the Spaniard wants to get on the scoresheet!

81

Substitution

That's James Milner's race run and what a contribution from tonight's captain, who is replaced by Jordon Ibe.

76

Goal

Liverpool 4-0 Everton (Coutinho)

The Reds are running riot against their city rivals!

The ball breaks to Philippe Coutinho at the edge of the box and with a drop of the shoulder he finds the space to curl a beauty into the bottom corner.

72

Match shot

A great picture of Divock celebrating his opener.

66

Substitution

And now Klopp looks to freshen things up and keep the Reds on the front foot, bringing in Joe Allen for Roberto Firmino.

63

Substitution

The third goal has prompted Roberto Martinez to make changes with the weekend's FA Cup semi-final in mind.

John Stones is the latest withdrawal, and he is replaced by Steven Pienaar.

61

Goal

Liverpool 3-0 Everton (Sturridge)

He's on the scoresheet again! Lucas does brilliantly to win the ball high up the pitch and charges toward the box where he has plenty of options.

Sturridge is one of those, and makes his move into the box before collecting the ball expertly and dispatching it into the bottom corner.

58

Substitution

A substitution for Everton now as Ross Barkley makes way for Tom Cleverley.

53

Substitution

Divock Origi is unable to carry on and leaves the pitch on a stretcher to warm applause.

Daniel Sturridge is his replacement and will now look to punish the ten-man Toffees.

50

Red Card

Ramire Funes Mori is given his marching orders after a high challenge which catches Divock Origi on the ankle.

The Belgian is now receiving treatment - fingers crossed he can continue.

46

Kick-Off

We're back under way at Anfield, with Liverpool now attacking the Anfield Road end.

HT

Substitution

A change at the break for Everton as Muhamed Besic replaces Gareth Barry.

Half Time

Liverpool 2-0 Everton

They were made to wait for it, but Jürgen Klopp's team have a two-goal lead at the break at Anfield.

Milner deserves huge credit for his part in that, having provided two brilliant crosses for Origi and Sakho to nod in.

45+2

Goal

Liverpool 2-0 Everton (Sakho)

It's two! The Toffees get back in their numbers and try to hold off the Reds until the break but Mama is having none of it.

The Frenchman stays up the pitch after a cleared corner and, when Milner drives into the area courtesy of a one-two before chipping in a cross, he is on hand to emphatically head it into the roof of the net.

43

Goal

Liverpool 1-0 Everton (Origi)

There it is! Everton keep the initial free-kick out but are undone by the corner which follows as Origi rises highest at the back post to nod in Milner's cross.

Get in!

42

Yellow Card

Now Everton have a yellow card of their own after Lennon is punished for cynically tripping Milner outside the box.

39

Divock Origi holds off his man in the box and gets a shot away but - again - Robles is there to save.

Everton have their goalkeeper to thank for the scoreline and I doubt Jürgen Klopp is too unhappy with the way the hosts have played thus far.

30

The Reds denied again as Milner's lofted ball over the top is collected by Firmino but Robles gets down well to save the finish.

You've got to give the Everton man credit but let's hope the hosts can finish the next one.

27

Liverpool getting on top now, with Lallana heading inches wide from a Clyne cross and Coutinho sending a free-kick past the post.

Come on you Redmen!

21

The two teams trading blows in the opening 20 minutes here, with Lallana and Mirallas the latest to threaten.

The Reds No.20 went close with a header moments before Everton's Belgian attacker sent a drive wide after a good run.

An entertaining game for neutrals - I'd imagine.

20

Match shot

13

Another rapid counter from Everton after a good spell of Liverpool pressure almost results in a goal.

Mirallas can't make the most of the space at the edge of the box, however, and fires an effort over the bar.

8

Yellow Card

The first booking of the match and it's for James Milner.

The No.7 went in late on a breaking Leighton Baines and can probably have few complaints. He'll have to be careful now.

6

Close!

A poor clearance from Funes Mori falls to Coutinho, who plays Lallana in one-on-one with a brilliant first-time pass.

Unfortunately, the attacker's left-footed finish can't beat Robles.

3

A frantic start to the game here at Anfield!

Milner's free-kick delivery causes panic in the Everton box and is just about cleared before a counter attack from Lukaku and Mirallas is snuffed out.

1

Kick-Off

Liverpool get us under way attacking the Kop end first half - here we go!

Weather

FAO: Weather fans

As mentioned, it's a sunny start to the day in Liverpool but just to give you even more detail, it's currently nine degrees around the city and the temperature will climb to 15 degrees as we approach the 8pm BST kick-off.

Don't make my regular mistake, though - you should still take a coat to Anfield.

"I know that outside there are more important things than football, but sometimes it looks like there is nothing more important - especially around derbies. To make our fans happy in derbies is easier than in all other games. So we should try our best."
