Alberto Moreno is confident Liverpool are more than capable of overcoming a Tottenham Hotspur team who have outperformed them in the Barclays Premier League thus far this season.

Spurs visit Anfield this evening hoping to keep their title bid on track as they face a Reds side who have, in contrast, struggled to find consistency in the league in 2015-16.

But Moreno doesn't believe the difference in quality is as wide as the current table suggests - and hopes he and his teammates can prove that at home.

"They are a great team with very good players, but we are at the same level as we have brilliant players as well in the team," he told Liverpoolfc.com.

"It will be an amazing game for the fans too and I am looking forward to that day and, of course, to try to win it."

Tottenham's surge to the upper reaches of the English top flight has been in part inspired by the efforts of prolific striker Harry Kane and young midfielder Dele Alli.

But when asked if the Reds have special plans for the in-form duo, Moreno replied: "There will be a special plan to deal with Tottenham; as I said, they are a good team and we are not only going to concentrate on two players.

"We will be analysing the whole team, how they play and from there we will work hard this week to try to win the game."

Although Liverpool's form has been unpredictable this term, they have picked up a number of big wins over the sides above them in the table.

And the club's No.18 is eyeing another positive result when Mauricio Pochettino's second-placed outfit visit Merseyside.

"When we play against big teams we play really well but we always have to play like this, against big and small teams," he added.

"I hope that this weekend against Tottenham, who are high up in the table, we do our best and make it difficult for them to win.

"We play at home with our supporters and the whole team will try really hard to get the three points."
