Alberto Moreno can't hide his excitement about running out at Anfield today for the huge Barclays Premier League clash against Manchester United.

The Spaniard has yet to beat the Red Devils during his time at the club and wants to use the pain of losing to the Reds' bitter rivals to help spur the team on.

Moreno is hoping that he and his teammates will give the home supporters something to celebrate on Sunday evening.

He said: “I can't wait for it. I really want to win and I hope we do win. I hope that we give the fans a treat - which is exactly what they deserve.

“It's the biggest derby going, especially for a team like Liverpool. We are going to go out there and do all that we can. Hopefully we're going to beat them.

“[Losing] hurts us just as much as it hurts them [the fans]. Everybody who is from Liverpool or supports Liverpool knows to lose hurts and that's for me as well.

“Every game that we lose hurts and against United much more so.”

The left-back has been a regular in the side following Jürgen Klopp’s arrival in October and feels he has matured as a person and a player under the tutelage of the German.

After arriving from Sevilla in the summer of 2014, Moreno is now settled into life on Merseyside and the manager's starting XI.

The 23-year-old added: “I think everything has changed. For me, it's certainly helped me become a little more matured.

“I'm far from home, up to 22 years of age I was at home with my family and here I am [at Liverpool] now.

“I feel a lot more mature now, I've got my life with my girlfriend, who has helped me become a little bit more independent.

“As far as the football goes, it's a really intense league to be playing in, it's really hard, really fast and you have got to be aware so I really think I've matured as a footballer.”
