Ahead of tonight's Emirates FA Cup third-round tie away at Exeter City, here are 14 key facts you should know about the game from club statistician Ged Rea…

The two sides have met once previously in the FA Cup. Liverpool won 3-1 in the fourth round in 1950 on their way to a Wembley meeting with Arsenal.

The other four meetings all came in the League Cup, with the Reds winning them all.

The last clash between the teams came in August 2011 when Liverpool won 3-1 at St. James Park. Luis Suarez, Maxi and Andy Carroll were on target for the Reds with Exeter scoring a late consolation from the penalty spot.

The Reds are seven-times winners of this competition, last lifting the trophy in 2006 after beating West Ham on penalties in Cardiff.

Liverpool have won six of their last eight away games in this competition - including all four last season.

The last time the Reds lost to a team at least three divisions below them in the FA Cup was in 1959 when non-league Worcester City won 2-1.

This is the seventh time in the last nine seasons that Liverpool have been drawn away in the third round and the 11th time in the last 14.

The last Liverpool hat-trick in the FA Cup was scored by Yossi Benayoun against non-league Havant and Waterlooville in the fourth round in 2008. No Liverpool player has ever scored a hat-trick against Exeter.

Only two players have ever scored FA Cup hat-tricks against Liverpool – John Boag of Derby County in 1897-98 and Ray Westwood of Bolton in 1945-46.

Adam Lallana scored at Exeter in February 2010 for Southampton in a 1-1 league draw and then netted in a 4-0 home win over the Grecians on New Year's Day the following year.

Exeter have reached this stage of the competition for the first time since 2004-05 when they drew 0-0 at Manchester United before losing the replay 2-0. The Grecians manager in that tie was current Liverpool Academy director Alex Inglethorpe.

Last season they were victims to the first big shock of the competition when they lost 1-0 at Warrington Town in the first round in front of live TV cameras. It was their fifth successive first-round loss.

Since the draw was made they have lost all four games played including the three they have played at home to Luton Town, AFC Wimbledon and Dagenham & Redbridge. In that time they have conceded 10 goals.

Clinton Morrison has played seven times against Liverpool scoring four times while with Crystal Palace and Birmingham. One of his goals came in a League Cup semi-final at Selhurst Park in 2001. His team won 2-1 that night but lost heavily in the return.
