A confident approach will allow Liverpool to reproduce the level of performance that was too much for Manchester City when they face Swansea City this afternoon, according to Dejan Lovren.

The Reds were unstoppable at the Etihad Stadium last weekend to follow up last month’s 3-1 victory on the road against Chelsea with another emphatic win over a Barclays Premier League rival.

But Jürgen Klopp has acknowledged that the team’s form at Anfield must now improve – and Lovren believes those displays can be repeated in L4 by adopting the right mentality.

The defender told Liverpoolfc.com: “We need to take [the performance] from Manchester City to home. We just need to be confident and stay calm.

“The opportunities will come, we all know that. We have so many quality players, we know how to play football and we create so many chances.

“We need to defend well and then when we have the opportunities, we need to concentrate and score the goals.

“It depends on us. We need to show our character and show our quality. Each game is important for us – it’s not a ‘big’ game and a ‘small’ game.

“We just need to continue to have this great confidence; we’re playing really well, especially the last game. We just need to keep that focus.

“It’s a mentality, everything is mentality. You don’t need to look at the opponent or which name you’re going to be playing. You need to be ready to work hard and give 150 per cent on the pitch. That is what matters.”
