Ahead of Liverpool's Capital One Cup fourth round clash with Bournemouth at Anfield this evening, check out these 12 interesting facts from club statistician Ged Rea.

Earlier this season, the two teams met at Anfield for the first time in league football. The Reds won 1-0 with Christian Benteke scoring his first goal for the club and the 50th of his English club career in all competitions.

Liverpool last took on the Cherries in the Capital One Cup in December of last year when the Reds won 3-1 at the Goldsands Stadium. Raheem Sterling scored in either half and Lazar Markovic netted his first goal for the club before Dan Gosling pulled one back for the hosts.

Jürgen Klopp's team are looking to reach the quarter-final stage of the League Cup for the 21st time.

Adam Lallana scored against Bournemouth in the League Cup five years ago for Southampton in a 2-0 victory. The midfielder played four games on loan with the Cherries during the 2007-08 season.  

Adam Bogdan made his Liverpool debut at Anfield against Carlisle last month in the third round and became only the second Reds goalkeeper, after Pepe Reina in the 2006 FA Cup final, to save three penalties in a shootout.

Liverpool have won one of their last eight League Cup games at Anfield in normal time. 

Fernando Torres is the last Liverpool player to score a League Cup hat-trick - at Reading eight years ago. The last Reds player to achieve the feat at home in the competition was Michael Owen against Grimsby in 1997. 

Liverpool have played in eight penalty shootouts in the League Cup, losing just twice - to Wimbledon in 1993 and Northampton at Anfield in 2010. In major competitive games, the Reds have won 13 of 16 shootouts, with their last defeat coming against Besiktas in the Europa League last term.

Last season, Bournemouth reached the quarter-finals of the League Cup for the first time in their history.

Eddie Howe's men have reached this stage by winning away to two lower-league sides in Hartlepool and Preston.

In the second round, they won 4-0 at Hartlepool with goals from Yann Kermorgant, Dan Gosling and a double from Junior Stanislas. In the last round, they beat Preston on penalties after a 2-2 draw at Deepdale. Cherries goalkeeper Adam Federici saved three spot-kicks for a 3-2 victory.

Bournemouth have not won in their last four games, posting a draw and three defeats. They have lost their last two games by a 5-1 margin - at Manchester City and at home to Tottenham last Sunday.
