Jordon Ibe believes Liverpool can 'make a statement' about their intentions for the season if they can beat Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Brendan Rodgers' side have claimed two wins as many games in the Barclays Premier League in 2015-16 but are sure to have their top-four credentials put to the test by the Gunners.

While many teams might fear a trip to take on Arsene Wenger's side, though, Ibe sees the fixture as an opportunity for the Reds to prove how far they can go this term.

"Playing against a top-four team is quite a test for us but hopefully we can get get ourselves in that position come the end of the season," he told Liverpoolfc.com.

"It's always a great battle between Arsenal and Liverpool so it should be a good contest and hopefully we can do well.

"For us, [a win can] make a statement to everyone that we can be a Champions League team and win medals.

"If we beat Arsenal it'll give all the new players and the players that were already here the confidence to kick on.

"They've already lost a game so it's crucial for them to get another win.

"We're on a winning streak right now, we've just won two games, so hopefully we can take that confidence to the Emirates and get the three points."

Ibe has featured in Rodgers' starting XI against both Stoke City and Bournemouth, acquitting himself well as Liverpool have posted consecutive 1-0 victories.

The 19-year-old is particularly eager to make a telling contribution in the coming games, however, to ensure he sees off strong competition for his place.

"I can try to get a goal, have a key pass or get an assist because I want to make a statement in the team," he added.

"It's competitive on the training ground and every other player is pushing me hard and hopefully I'm pushing them hard.

"But it's been great fun [for me] and things are going well.

"I've been really pleased and I enjoyed the pre-season. Just being around all the players, and there are quite a lot of young players and we can relate and talk.

"It's great at the moment but hopefully we can keep building and I can keep building as a player and we can all do well together."
