Ex-Reds captain Jamie Redknapp hopes he'll be at Anfield for Monday's match with Bournemouth – but as a supporter rather than a TV pundit.

Jamie originally joined Liverpool from Bournemouth in 1991 as one of the hottest teenage properties in football.

In an exclusive interview with matchday programme This Is Anfield he reveals: “I was gutted that this wasn’t scheduled as a Sunday game because I would love to have been in the studio for it. Instead I’m going to try to be there at the match as a fan and bring my kids who are also Liverpool supporters.

“This game is between two football clubs that mean a lot to me. Seeing Bournemouth in the Premier League has made me so happy, but I don’t want them winning at Anfield!”

Redknapp also has some words of wisdom for current Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson.

He added: “The fact that I can tell people I captained Liverpool is what I am most proud of when I look back on my career.

“I’m sure it is something that Jordan is immensely proud of already.

“There’s no doubt the armband does bring extra responsibility. But my advice to Jordan would be not to change what you were doing in the first place – that’s why you were made captain.”
