Fabio Aurelio expects Philippe Coutinho to enter the new season with enormous confidence after his stellar personal campaign in 2014-15.

Liverpool's No.10 was by popular consensus the side's top performer, scooping four prizes at the Players' Awards in May.

His accolades were in recognition of 52 appearances, eight goals and a series of displays that encapsulated his finest talents.

Departing captain Steven Gerrard declared the Brazilian 'the next big thing', and compatriot Aurelio sees no reason why Coutinho's status can't continue to soar.

"I have followed Coutinho since he first joined Inter Milan," the former Reds full-back told Liverpoolfc.com.

"Obviously he didn't have a great time there, but he was always a quality player, a quick player that could play very well between the lines. Quick-thinking as well.

"At Liverpool, he had the chance he needed to step up and improve his game; he had the opportunity to show his true qualities.

"I enjoyed watching him a lot last season and now he will have even more confidence to keep doing the great job he is doing at the moment. I wish him the very best."
