Liverpool Ladies midfielder Fara Williams insists she will step up to the spot again despite missing a crucial penalty during Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Chelsea.

Matt Beard's side produced an excellent display during the Women's Super League clash at Staines Town, and despite going 1-0 down they had a chance to level proceedings when they were awarded a spot-kick.

However, Williams, who normally has an impeccable record from 12 yards out, this time sent the effort the wrong side of the post.

Williams said: "I've been practising penalties. The 'keeper went the wrong way but unfortunately it went just wide, but I'm still the penalty taker and the next time I'll step up again.

"It's a disappointing result but we put in a very good performance.

"We dominated a good Chelsea team and they'll know that they've been in a game. We made a couple of mistakes for their goal but we deserved a result.

"There was only one team that wanted to win, and if we had taken one of our chances in the first half it would have been a different game."

Beard's charges will now hope to bounce back when they host Manchester City at the Select Security Stadium in Widnes on Sunday, at 6pm BST.
