Liverpool Football Club and Sunderland AFC came together on Saturday to take part in the 'Football Remembers' campaign to commemorate the centenary of the 1914 Christmas Truce.

Players from both teams intermingled to stand side-by-side ahead of kick off at Anfield for a photograph in memory of British and German soldiers who participated in an unofficial cease fire across the Western Front to play football together in December 1914.

The image was uploaded to Liverpool FC's official Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts using the hashtag #footballremembers, joining other professional and amateur clubs across the country in the tribute.

These ‘Moment in History’ images were also collated on the Football Remembers website, which you can view by clicking here.
