Jose Enrique will not be available for selection when Liverpool take on his former club Newcastle United this weekend, due to a knee problem confirmed by Brendan Rodgers today.

The Spaniard started the Reds' 3-2 win at Queens Park Rangers midway through this month, but has since missed each of their three most recent fixtures.

He won't feature at St James' Park on Saturday either, with the manager confirming an issue for the full-back at his pre-match press conference.

"Jose is still not available, it's just an issue with his knee," Rodgers explained when asked for a general fitness update. "He won't be available for the squad."
