Colin Pascoe suggested that Liverpool may utilise the depth of their squad when Swansea City visit Anfield in the Capital One Cup tomorrow evening, but the target will remain firmly on a win in the fourth round.

The Reds welcome Brendan Rodgers' former club to L4 on Tuesday, having progressed to this stage of the competition courtesy of an historic 14-13 penalty shootout victory over Middlesbrough last month.

Standing in their way on the path to silverware now are the Welsh outfit, who make the journey to Merseyside fresh from a 2-0 result over Leicester City that carried Garry Monk's team into sixth place in the Barclays Premier League.

Pascoe is therefore anticipating a tough challenge from Swansea, but the assistant manager insisted today that Liverpool will enter the contest with their sights firmly set on the fifth round, however they choose to line up.

He told a pre-match press conference: "Every cup and league game at Liverpool you want to win. It will be a tough game against Swansea tomorrow night but we want to get through.

"They are a good side and will be hard opposition. They are playing very well - they had a great result against Leicester in the Premier League and I'm sure they'll come here strong and wanting to win."

Asked whether the Reds are likely to make alterations to the squad that was selected for Saturday's Premier League meeting with Hull City, Pascoe admitted the possibility of rotation.

"That's why the squad is there, to rotate a few players," he continued. "Strikers and midfielders can step in - you've got Rickie Lambert to step in, Fabio Borini to step in. We'll wait and assess everyone, see who is fit and decide.

"We've got a lot of new players and it takes time to gel together. They are quality players and they'll fit in fine. It's just a time where they've got to bed in; they are training and working hard as well. Just give them time and you'll see the best of them."
