It's a campaign that has swept the internet and Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge and Steven Gerrard today became the latest to take the ice bucket challenge to raise awareness and funds for charity.

First up, fresh from hitting the winner against Southampton, the Reds striker was drenched by a member of the backroom team with ice-cold water at Melwood on Monday morning - which he then posted in a clip on his official Instagram account.

Gerrard soon followed suit, again using his official Instagram account to post the below clip from Melwood.

The premise of the ice bucket challenge is simple - participants must film themselves having freezing water poured over their heads before donating money to a chosen charity.

They then nominate friends to do the same within 24 hours, or they must contribute a larger sum of money to a good cause.

In keeping with the campaign, Sturridge selected actor Idris Elba and musicians Tinie Tempah, Banks and Jessie Ware to take on the task themselves, while Gerrard selected Cardiff City's Craig Noone.
