We had some special guests at the Academy last week who attended one of our 5-day summer Soccer Schools.

16 young players and 3 coaches from LFC's International Academy in Egypt visited the UK to continue their football development and they were able to immerse themselves in the Liverpool Way of coaching - to help them progress and develop their expertise when they return to Cairo.

LFC International Academy Egypt Head Coach, Dave Ridler also travelled over with the group and spoke highly of the experience:

"It's great for these young players to come and experience some time at the Academy. Over the five days players got to work on different technical aspects of the game with the Liverpool coaches as well as undertaking a series of Academy skills challenges. It was also a great opportunity for the kids to play with some players from England and learn a little bit more about the way LFC trains its players. The feedback from my coaches has also been excellent and in terms of their coaching development this was a very beneficial week."

Born in Huyton, Dave is responsible as head coach of LFC's operation in Egypt for delivering coaching programmes to the young players in Cairo - a role that he is honoured to undertake:

"I am very proud to represent LFC especially being head coach on the project in Egypt. My ambition was to play for Liverpool but I didn't have that opportunity, so after my professional career it is perfect that I got the chance to represent the club in another way and still fulfil my dream."

The LFC International Academy in Egypt is going from strength to strength, offering year-round player development programmes for six to fourteen year olds from two locations in Cairo, Al Rehab and Madinaty.
