When Steven Gerrard signed the arms of three Liverpool supporters in Charlotte, he sparked a chain of events that involved a tattoo parlour and a second meeting with the inspirational captain.

The No.8 was at an event as part of the Reds' summer tour of the United States on Friday when a trio of Kopites encouraged the midfielder to put pen to flesh with his autograph.

Not content with the temporary signature of their talisman, however, the group, in town to watch their team take on AC Milan on Saturday evening, took things one step further.

Within hours, a permanent tattoo had been marked on Gerrard's imprint by each of the three - and, in recognition of their tribute, the skipper later reunited with the fans to take a closer look.
