Sergi Canos was on the mark as a Liverpool U19 side drew 1-1 with Schalke on Thursday night.

The likes of Jordan Rossiter and Jerome Sinclair were on duty for a young Reds XI and it was a good test against the host team.

Canos fired Liverpool into the lead but Schalke found an equaliser as the game ended in a draw.

Meanwhile a Liverpool U17 side recorded a 2-0 win over Schalke with the decisive goals coming from Brooks Lennon and an own goal.

Academy U18s boss Neil Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com: "It was a pleasing victory and we played some very good football in the first half.

"Schalke were fantastic hosts. The facilities were first class and the pitch was excellent so it has been a really good experience for the lads."
