On July 12, 1974, 40 years ago today, Bill Shankly shook the football world by announcing he had called it a day as manager of Liverpool Football Club.
It was a moment that certainly shook the Kop and on the streets of the city supporters were full of disbelief as they struggled to believe the news.
One thing that will never be forgotten is the legacy the great man left at Anfield and the foundations he laid are still very much evident at Melwood today.
