Following the news earlier this week that Liverpool legend Ian St John is battling cancer, the Scot welcomed LFCTV GO for a special chat about his fight and to reflect on a memorable career at Anfield.

The 76-year-old required a major operation in April to remove his bladder and prostate, and must undergo further surgery as the revered former Reds striker contends with the disease.

When it was revealed that 'the Saint' was in convalescence at his home on Merseyside, hundreds and thousands of messages of support from fans, friends and celebrities came flooding in.

St John was a hero of Bill Shankly's first great Liverpool team, dragging the club out of the Second Division and heading home the winning goal when they ended a long wait to lift the FA Cup in 1965.

His memories of those days formed part of a spirited conversation, as did his personal take on the progress of his old employers under the stewardship of Brendan Rodgers.
